My personal blog with whatever I feel like commenting on, and journal entries from my 2018 Appalachian Trail thru-hike. This blog is currently a work in progress as I migrate my journal notes from Google Keep (unpublished) and edit my export of published posts and comments from Google+, which is going away on 02 April 2019.

Quick update:
Quick update:
Left the trail at Catawba VA on Tuesday after hiking Dragons Tooth and returned to northern Virginia on Wednesday for Thanksgiving with family.
My sister and brother-in-law are giving me a ride back to Daleville this afternoon so I will be back on the trail Sunday morning to see McAfee Knob and Tinker Cliffs.

Looks like you missed the "big" mess by about "that much". Keep trucking.
ReplyDeleteBased on a couple of journals from folks north of you at SNP, the trail is a MESS with downed timber. Hope your area is in better shape. Check the SNP site for details before next week.
ReplyDeletePorter Morgan Heard that. It's a mess north of Daleville (specifically beyond Fullhardt Knob shelter where I slept Monday night). Blue Ridge Parkway is closed preventing trail crews from getting to it, but crews have cleared near Tinker Cliffs and were working today near Cove Mountain.
